Should I be concerned about the quality of the MRI center?
Quality is key.
Because there is such a vast number of MRI scanners and capabilities, choosing the right MRI provider based on quality as a patient is hard. There are however, several ways to make sure that the quality is acceptable for your MRI scan.
-Ask
if the MRI clinic is accredited by the American College of Radiologists
(ACR), a national organization which accredits providers who meet
rigorous strict quality criteria. If a clinic is ACR accredited, you
can rest assured that you and your physician will be provided with the
appropriate results from your scan. All of Smart Choice MRI's clinics have received the ACR accredidation.
-Our MRI technologists are also put under appropriate testing to assure their capabilities. All of Smart Choice MRI's technologists
have passed a national certification examination in their specialty
with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).
-There are two different types of MRI scanners; high field closed and low field open. The closed MRIs are always preferred by physicians because they take superior images, however, open MRIs are ideal for claustrophobic and heavier patients.
